Jonathan Wells

Jonathan Wells has experienced tragedy and triumph. He grew up in River Ridge, Louisiana, near New Orleans. He takes pride in his parents’ stable household, with both parents, who have been married for a long time. The tragedy came at the tender age of seven years, when Jonathan’s older brother committed suicide. This incident, and the awareness of the effects of crime, motivated him to want to do better for himself.

Jonathan took to football and called it a blessing. With hard work and focus, he was a star athlete at John Curtis Christian High School, where he assisted the team in capturing three consecutive 4A state championships.

The excellent football record led him to an outstanding college career as a running back with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Thanks to Jonathan’s performance, Ohio broke its six-game losing streak at Michigan Stadium, getting a win there for the first time since 1987. He played with honor for head coach Jim Tressel, who was in his first year. Jonathan was named Ohio State’s 2001 season Most Valuable Player.

Jonathan was drafted by the Houston Texans and went pro from 2002 to 2005.

After professional football, Jonathan teamed up with colleagues to found From the Ground Up Records. He is now President and Founder of You World Global Media, Inc., with hip hop and rap artists signed on as clients. The company is based in Atlanta.
