Shahrina Ankhi-Krol

When she was only 13 years old, Shahrina Ankhi-Krol saw a flyer posted in the hall of her Queens middle school. The famed Whitney Museum of American Art in Manhattan was looking for teens her age to volunteer as tour guides.

“How cool!” she thought — and quickly signed up.

At the Whitney, the teen discovered her passion for painting, drawing, sculpture, and all forms of creativity. She enjoyed the art and the artists so much that she volunteered at the Metropolitan and MOMA in high school.

Little did she know then that when her career would veer into law, her love of art and the creative community would guide her to soon become one of New York’s Rising Star Super Lawyers five years in a row. That’s a recognition given to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in each state each year.

Brother Bedford

Smokey Robinson. Cedric the Entertainer. Dr. Dennis Kimbro. Lisa Nichols. Les Brown.

It sounds like random name-dropping, but these people represent a roadmap of Brother Bedford’s journey, which took him from school talent shows to working with these recognizable figures in one capacity or another.

And it all started with hamming it up in his family’s living room, performing Jackson Five with his cousins to entertain their parents’ guests.

There are many successful people who knew exactly what they wanted to do or be from a young age. They laser-locked on that goal and did everything they needed to get there. Then there are those like Brother Bedford, whose current success is a culmination of everything he has tried and learned in the past.
