An Attitude of Excellence

Willie Jolley

A Dynamic Speaker, Singer and Author

Willie Jolley shares something in common with some of the most renowned people in the world including Margaret Thatcher, Nelson Mandela and Colin Powell.

Named one of the Outstanding Five Speakers in the World, Willie has shared the spotlight with many extraordinary motivational speakers. He was inducted into the Speakers Hall of Fame by the National Speakers Association, joining other luminaries such as Ronald Reagan, Zig Ziglar and Les Brown. In 2003, McDonald Corporation, named him “A Black History Maker of Today”.

These accolades did not come easy to Willie. He set himself up for success. As a matter of fact he wrote the book on it – A Setback Is A Setup For A Comeback, a best-seller translated into eight languages. He also authored “It Only Takes a Minute to Change Your Life.”

Even as a young boy, Willie had the entrepreneurial spirit. As a newspaper boy, he designed a distribution system which resulted in one of Washington, D.C.’s most profitable routes.

Born and raised in Washington, D.C. this young lad had more on his mind than newspapers. He wanted to become a musician and singer. At the age of 15, he performed with a singing group called 98.6 which became a local success. That opportunity lead to more success in the music business where he became a background performer for Jazz legend Jean Carne, a vocalist for Phyllis Hyman and others. Later as a solo act, Willie became one of Washington’s most popular jazz performers, receiving five consecutive Washington Area Music Association (WAMMIE) Awards for Best Jazz Vocalist and Best Entertainer.

As we oftentimes experience, life has a way of showing us that we were meant to do other things, there’s another purpose to our lives.

In 1990 Willie was fired from his jazz club gig and replaced by a karaoke machine. Well, one karaoke machine didn’t stop the show. He tried his hand at becoming a star and as he puts it, “I bombed royally.”

Today Willie enjoys a dynamic motivational speaking career, where he combines his extraordinary speaking skills and music. As a co-author of the best-selling book, Go M.A.D. (Go Make A Difference), Willie encourages youth to achieve academic excellence.

His life’s mission? To help people maximize their God-given talents and abilities so they can, “Do More, Be More and Achieve More”.
