Mayor Evelyn Wynn-Dixon - She Weathered Her Storm

When the deck is stacked against you, though it may sometimes seem like the logical thing to do, you should not fold. You play the hand you’ve been dealt, all the while strategizing how to beat your opponent.

That’s exactly what Evelyn Wynn-Dixon did. Her opponent was adversity. From segregation, to great family loss and homelessness, she stayed in the game and withstood adversity.

Though she was faced with what seemed to be continual challenges, her parent’s teachings, her church and the words of Dr. King planted seeds of hope and determination within her. They were the foundation upon which she could stand when everything else seemed to fall around her. Today she is the Mayor of Riverdale, Georgia.

James Morgan & Tom Griffin - Haiti's Miracle

Dr. James Morgan and attorney Thomas Griffin are incredible human beings who are performing amazing selfless miracles for the poverty-stricken population in the urban slums of Haiti in Cite Soleil. James and Thomas have chosen to use their talents and skills as a physician and attorney respectively to reach beyond their socio economic backgrounds to make a world of difference in the lives of many suffering Haitians. Their love, caring and kind spirit is a testimonial that love transcends all socio-economic backgrounds.

Hezekiah Griggs - Creating Diamonds from the Rough

When life handed him lemons, he not only made lemonade but he took the recipe and showed others how to make their own and drink from the cup of success. He has been inspiring other young adults to develop their own recipe for success. In the past several years Hezekiah has helped teens and young adults realize their full potential and use it to build strong character.

Rather than watching cartoons or playing games, at the age of nine Hezekiah was thinking about operating his own business. Mr. Griggs as he is often called, is one of America's youngest CEOs. He started his first business at the age of nine and sold it at the age of 11.  At 19 he continues to break new ground by owning several businesses.

In 2005, Mr. Griggs received a Youth Optimist Award on behalf of the 2nd Ward Association of Passaic County, New Jersey.  He was recently presented with the Youth Leadership Award by the Passaic Branch of the NAACP.

A determined and focused individual, Hezekiah Griggs has proven that the youth of today can take charge, and he is definitely poised to lead America’s youth into a promising future.

Filled with the dream of becoming a famous actor, Geir set his sights on Hollywood where he would study acting. Upon arriving, his life changed in a way he never thought possible. While supporting himself as a student actor, an amazing opportunity was presented to him and he took on the challenge. Today he runs a multi-million dollar perfume company. A few years ago his line of products were included in the Grammy Awards gift bag.
